About Triniti
Triniti Rives is an avid performer, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and educator. She has received national recognition as a finalist in the 2024 Sphinx Orchestral Partners Auditions, semi-finalist in the 2022 Coltman Chamber Music Competition, and was an honorable mention recipient in the 2022 Briggs Chamber Music Competition. Ms. Rives will join the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as the African American Orchestra Fellow in the 2025-26 season.
As an orchestral musician, Ms. Rives has appeared with The Florida Orchestra, Virginia Symphony, and New World Symphony performing works by Rachmaninoff, Respighi, and Verdi. She has also appeared with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as a pre-concert performer. She can be heard performing on the 6th NAXOS Label Album with the National Orchestral Institute + Festival Philharmonic, released in November 2023 under the direction of Maestra JoAnn Falletta. Ms. Rives’ summer appearances include the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA, the National Orchestral Institute + Festival in College Park, MD, and the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. Through her summer experiences, she has worked with celebrated conductors including Marin Alsop, Stéphane Denève, JoAnn Falletta, and Anthony Parnther.
An artist who deeply values the championing of new music and works by living and underrepresented composers, Ms. Rives has premiered several works with many notable organizations. These include the DACAMERA Young Artist program, the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, and Vision Possible Charity Concerts, performing works by Oliver Dubon, Gavin Goodrich, Adolphus Hailstork, Paquito D’Rivera, and more.
Passionate about sharing music with the community, Ms. Rives has performed in a wide array of environments—from notable art galleries, churches, and schools, to libraries, a rug store, and even an outdoor concert truck! Memorable programs include the consortium premiere of Karalyn Schubring’s award winning work, Cats’ ConunDrum for reed quintet, and works by Valerie Coleman and Oliver Dubon at Houston’s Menil Collection in response to the museum exhibition, “Taking Flight” by Joe Overstreet. She is an alumna of Sigma Alpha Iota – Alpha Chapter, where she served as chair of the Education and Community Engagement Committee, and on the Professional Development Committee.
Originally from Fayetteville, GA, Ms. Rives is an alumna of both the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program—a program dedicated to advancing and preparing Atlanta-area middle and high school students of Black and/or Latine descent for careers in classical music. She studied under the tutelage of Marci Gurnow, former clarinetist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Rives is currently working towards her Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music under the tutelage of Richie Hawley. Ms. Rives earned her Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance with high honors from the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at the University of Michigan, studying with Daniel Gilbert and Chad Burrow.
Beyond music, Ms. Rives enjoys baking, photography, and drawing.
